WHAT IS VAPING? EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT VAPING IN CANADA

Apr 20, 2021 • 4 min read

If you’re new to vaping you probably have a lot of questions like how to use a vape pen, how to vape and what are the best vape pods for you? You might also be curious as to whether you’re supposed to inhale when you vape, and also, what should you not do with a vape? All very common questions to be asking in the beginning and we are going to answer all of them for you right here. We got you!

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO BUY TO START VAPING?

You basically only need two things: a vaping device (also known as a vape pen) and some vape e-liquid or a flavour cartridge/pod to put in it. The device turns the e-liquid into vapour, so you can puff on it. That's it!

VAPE PENS

At Vuse, we make a vape pen device called the ePod - it’s a ‘closed system,’ meaning all you need to do is pop in a pre-filled flavour cartridge that we call a vape pod. We offer a range of ePod vaping device colours and some limited editions options as well.

VAPE E-LIQUID FLAVOURS

Once you’ve chosen your device, it's time to choose your flavour pod and nicotine strength. Vuse offers a variety of flavours with different intensities and nicotine strenghts, including 0% - meaning there is no nicotine at all.

OKAY, I'VE GOT MY VAPE PEN DEVICE AND SOME E-LIQUID. WHAT DO I DO NOW?

You have your vape pen device and your e-liquid and you’re all set to go. So what next? Keep reading!

HOW TO USE A VAPE PEN?

There’s definitely a unique technique to vaping. If you have recently taken up vaping, you may start by taking smaller, shorter, faster puffs with at least a 20 second internal in order to get used to the sensation of vaping. These will be more diluted with air and therefore give you a smoother experience.

WHAT SHOULD YOU NOT DO WITH A VAPE?

There are two main things you should avoid.

Don’t chain vape. This is probably the most common cause of burnt hits, especially for new vapers. When taking lots of puffs in a row, your wick doesn’t have enough time to soak up the e-liquid, causing it to dry out and burn. If you start noticing a slightly burnt taste when you inhale or if you can feel the tank overheating, put your vape pen down for a moment to give the wick time to absorb more e-liquid.

Don’t leave your device in the sun. There's no problem with a little bit of sunshine, but we don’t recommend that you leave a fully-charged battery lying in the hot sun. In general, it's best to avoid leaving your vape near any source of heat – whether it's charged or not. This is because high temperatures reduce the life of lithium-ion batteries, and they operate best at room temperature, which is between 20 and 25°C.

WHERE CAN I VAPE? AND IS VAPING LEGAL IN CANADA?

In Canada, the laws on where you can vape are different for each province so it’s always best to check your provincial and municipal guidelines. You’ll almost certainly find that all public spaces – from restaurants and offices, to train platforms and bus stops – have their own policies about vaping. Similarly, some people don’t mind you vaping in their house, while others would rather you didn’t vape in their car. The best advice we can offer is to always check what the vaping policy is wherever you are.

WHAT'S IN THE VAPOUR?

Vapour is vaporized e-liquid – which basically means e-liquid gently heated to form a cloud of tiny droplets suspended in air (just like water turns to steam). This is done by a small heating element in the vaping device called an atomizer. Vuse e-liquids are made mainly from a combination of propylene glycol (PG), vegetable glycerine (VG) and traces of water. Some of our e-liquids also contain nicotine and flavourings, depending which one you choose.

So that's it! All you need is a vaping device (preferably a Vuse ePod) and some e-liquid. We've made it even easier for you with our vape starter bundle - choose your device colour and a pack of pods and you're all set.
